Nigerians will have to pay a £3,000 fee to visit UK Visitors from Nigeria and other “high risk” countries in Asia and Africa will be forced to pay a £3,000 cash bond before they can enter United Kingdom. From November, a pilot scheme will target visitors from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Ghana who will have to pay the UK government a form of cash guarantee or deposit to deter immigration abuse. They will forfeit the £3,000 if they overstay in Britain and fail to return to their home countries by the time their visa has expired. The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has warned residents in the southern parts of the country against severe weather which may result in unprecedented heavy rainfall.  In a statement on Monday 17th of June 2013, the agency said that the weather could bring "unforeseen stress" upon the populace. "NEMA is issuing this early warning based on the alerts received from the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development based in Niamey, Niger Republic," said the statement signed by Ibrahim Farinloye, NEMA's South-West Spokesperson. "The centre issued the warning about 4:35 p.m. (on Monday) to other related countries that may likely witness such severe weather in Central, East and West African sub-regions," the statement added. In Nigeria, Lagos and its surrounding states are expected to experience torrential rainfall from about 50 mm within 24 hours, according to the statement. Container truck crushes man, govt meat van Tragedy struck on Thursday at Ikeja Along Bus Stop on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Lagos State, after a heavily   loaded 40-foot container truck fell on a government meat van, crushed a passerby, and wounded several others. Eyewitnesses said the truck had swerved off the road to avoid colliding with some policemen, who were chasing a motorcycle rider, before the incident occurred around 9am. The victim, identified as Samuel Ogunnaike, was an employee of a popular phone dealer in Computer Village, Ikeja, and was on his way to the office when he met his death. Any hope that he could survive the accident was dashed after he was trapped for about four hours before his body was retrieved from the wreckage. T he Joint Task Force on Thursday said it had uncovered a Lebanon-based Hezbollah armoury and terror cell in Bompai, Kano State. The force, which said it found large cache of arms and ammunition, also confirmed the arrest of three persons in connection with the armoury and the cell. A Lebanese national currently out of the country reportedly owns the premises where the armoury and the cell were found at No 3, Gaya Road, Off Bompai Road in the ancient city. A statement by the JTF spokesman, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, said the JTF operatives, comprising officials of the 3rd Army Brigade in Kano and the State Security Service conducted the operations. The operatives, he said, uncovered an underground bunker in the premises where large quantities of assorted weapons were hidden.
