Apple Sells 9 Million iPhones 5s and 5c in 3 days. Photo by AP Demand for  the iPhone 5c   has surpassed   initial supplies, and many online orders are scheduled to be shipped in the coming weeks, the company said in a statement. The sales far outpaced the figures from last September, when Apple unveiled the iPhone 5, selling more than 5 million in the first three days after its launch. Shares of Apple rose 3.6 per cent in pre-market trade on Monday following the news. On Friday, long lines formed outside stores in Tokyo, New York, San Francisco and other cities for Apple's new top-of-the-line 5S and the not so expensive 5c  . It was the first time Apple had launched two iPhone models simultaneously. Apple did not break out separate sales figures for the 5S and 5C. Apple also said in a regulatory filing it expects total revenue for the fourth fiscal quarter to be near the high end of the previously estimated range of $34 billion to $37 billion.  initial suppli
BBM Launch for Android Postponed  BlackBerry's popular messaging service, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), was  due for a roll out on Saturday evening . But, the app never made it to the Google Play store and left a lot of Android users confused. Later, a leaked version of the app surfaced online that was downloaded by over a million users. For iPhone users, things went smooth as the BBM for  iOS was available for download  from Apple App Store approximately 20 minutes before the scheduled time. This morning, BlackBerry has announced that it was pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone. The official BBM twitter account tweeted," We know you're waiting. Pausing #BBM4All rollout to fix issues caused by unreleased BBM for Android app." The announcement says, "The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already - more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app - is incredible. Consequently
N25bn spent on generators annually - GGI The Good Governance Initiative (GGI) has determined that Nigerians spend N25 billion on generators annually. Vanguard reports that this makes Nigeria the country that spends the most on generators. According to the report, GGI's president, Mr. Festus Mbisiogu, has urged Nigerians to put pressure on the Power Holding Company of Nigeria to improve the current supply of power in the country. “The epileptic power supply has remained a cog in the wheel of the nation's progress and is eating deep into the profits of businesses, particularly of companies that incur huge expenses in powering their businesses. “The insufficient public power supply has led to the relocation of most multinational companies to other African countries, those who decided to stay back rely on generators, while those that can’t afford such have closed shop," he told Vanguard.
BBM on IOS and ANDROID Platform. Best news for Blackberry  in Years Even as Blackberry has fallen from grace over the last few years, its proprietary messaging service BBM has remained a solid, well-designed product. A few months back, the company announced plans to bring the product to iOS and Android. We were  excited then , and after spending a few minutes with the final build of both apps, we're thinking this could be Blackberry's foothold into a new future. BBM retains all the same features on its new platform homes as it did in Blackberry's proprietary OS. New users will be given their own BBM pins. Running on an Apple iPhone 5 and a Samsung Galaxy S4 respectively, the iOS and Android apps navigate smoothly. There's no transition lag when navigating between chats and menus. Blackberry has done an admirable job adapting the product to the design language and interface conventions of both of its new home.
iOS 7 Launch Offers At Least  Reasons to Upgrade Apple's iOS 7 is slated for launch on Sept. 18, and according to the company's chief executive, Tim Cook, it will be the most downloaded mobile operating system ever released. It's a sure thing that iOS 7 will turn out to be more popular than its predecessor, iOS 6, and could easily eclipse the download figures attained by its chief counterpart, Android. Apple's iOS 7, in other words, promises to be a hit. But just because the majority of iOS users might choose to download Apple's new operating system, not everyone will be so quick to do so at launch. From the corporate world to consumers, quite a few people are on the fence over whether they should download Apple's latest mobile operating system or stick with iOS 6. For those folks, the answer should be clear: Download iOS 7 and be done with it. Apple's latest mobile operating system looks to be the best version the company has launched yet, and its rede

‘One thing you cannot escape in Nigeria’: British journalist narrates experience in the country READ! David Hayward, a British journalist and BBC reporter visited Nigeria this year for a short time despite the negative views he had heard about the country. His observation is rather interesting and it gives a glimpse of how the West African country and its citizens are perceived by foreigners. Read his findings on short visit to Nigeria: Earlier this year, I was approached to do some media consultancy in Nigeria. I’d just left the BBC after 18 years, to set up my own business, so this seemed a great opportunity.  I spoke to a number of friends and former colleagues. I’d heard many stories about Nigeria, seen the reports on Boko Haram and had my own impressions of sub Saharan Africa. The advice fell into two camps: a) Don’t go, you’ll get kidnapped or catch malaria. Either way, you’re going to die b) Nigeria is a nightmare. When you arrive, you’ll be swamped by hustlers
