Update On The National Conference Modalities After a few weeks of suspense, federal government on Thursday unveiled modalities for the proposed national conference. A total of 492 delegates are billed to participate in the conference that will last three months. Out of the 492, President Goodluck Jonathan is to nominate 77 across specified strata of the society while state governors are to collectively nominate 109 delegates. Following the modalities released by the secretary to the government of the federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, the socio-political group of the north, Arewa Consultative Forum(ACF), and its counterpart in the south-west, the Afenifere, both gave their stand on the national conference and it's modalities. Suicide bomber kills 17 in Maiduguri   At least 17 people were killed when a suspected suicide bomber detonated a bomb at the popular GSM Market near the post office in Maiduguri on Tuesday. Survivors told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred at about 14:00, shortly after the Zuhur prayers. Alhaji Lawan Tanko, Commissioner of Police in the State, confirmed the blast. "It is true that we had a blast at the GSM market after a suicide bomber driving in a firewood seller's vehicle detonated his bomb around 13:00. "Security agents rushed to the scene and cordoned off the place to restore normalcy. "We counted about 17 dead bodies as at 14:30 but the evacuation is ongoing. 31 year old married woman Sentenced to 38 years for having sex with a 12 year old boy  F ormer teacher Ethel Anderson, 31, (pictured above) was found guilty and sentenced to 38 years in prison in December 2013 for having sex with her 12 year old student. The married mother of one had sex with one of her students, whose identity is being kept secret because of his age (he was 12 at the time). The alleged abuse started in 2011 just one month  after the teacher and the minor started a tutoring session in her home.
