This is the best answer I ever received to 'Tell me about yourself'—after 20 years of interviewing

This is the best answer I ever received to 'Tell me about yourself'—after 20 years of interviewing Gary Burnison, Contributor  |  @gary_burnison Getty Images | Aleksandar Georgiev "Tell me about yourself" is a question you're certain to be asked at any  job interview . As the CEO of the  world's largest executive search firm , I have conducted thousands of interviews over the past 20 years. The best — and most memorable — answer I have ever received to that question was: "I've climbed the highest mountains on every continent, including Everest." Of course, anyone who is unimpressed by the person who conquered the "Seven Summits" must have foolishly high standards. But the fact that this candidate achieved such an impressive accomplishment wasn't the reason she stood out from all the rest. Predictors of success Too many people respond to "Tell me about yourself" by essentially giving a re...

Controlled Sex Drive = Discipline

Controlled Sex Drive = Discipline And that’s especially true for us men as we are natural hunters. But without proper control, sex can destroy all areas of your life. This post isn’t intended to discourage you from having sex. That’s not my business what you do. It’s to merely shine light on the fact that if you are single, you may not be able to go a week without running down on something. And I just want to provide some perspective on what could happen if you had some control Before I met my wife, I had no discipline over my sex drive. If a woman said “come over” I would drop everything of importance for a quick nut I remember one time when I had to be up for work at 5am in the morning. A chick hit me up around 9pm and said she wanted to come over but didn’t have a car. I drove one hour to her house and back, spent money on gas and etc.. and I didn’t get home until like 12:30am. Had sex with her and then I only had 3 hours to sleep. I woke up late for work the next morning and ...

WAKE UP!

Let's jump out of bed, let's get excited about the day ahead and let's have some fun! Life doesn't have to be boring, it doesn't always have to be about the grind and going through the motions. It can fun, it can be exciting and it can be pretty amazing when we wake up with the right attitude and outlook! So instead of rolling around in bed, feeling overwhelmed and dreading the day ahead! Let's shake things up a bit! Let's bring some energy to the day ahead and our lives! Let's look past our doubts and fears and all the things we don't have and start looking at the opportunity we have today, to play, to laugh, to get up to mischief and change things up! Wake up! It's a new day and that means you can create whatever existence you want in your own mind and you can change the way you see things and how you view the world in an instant. Anyone can see the world for what it is, but it takes a brave soul to see it for what it c...

F.E.A.R. False Evidence Appearing Real

F.E.A.R. False Evidence Appearing Real ‘On God I lean…I will not fear.’ Psalm 56:4 AMPC David said, ‘On God I lean, rely, and confidently put my trust; I will not fear. What can man, who is flesh, do to me?’ And David should know, because God enabled him to defeat a lion, a bear, and a giant.  The story is told about the man who approached a farmhouse and every few yards he noticed signs that read, ‘Beware of Dog’. When he finally reached the farmhouse, he discovered the dog was a tiny Chihuahua. ‘You mean to tell me that little dog keeps people away?’ he asked. The farmer smiled and said, ‘No, but the signs do!’ Fear roars like a lion, but much of the time when we confront it, it’s just a Chihuahua!  The truth is, you can face anything when you know God has promised: ‘I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee’ (Isaiah 41:13 KJV). So instead of fearing the worst, start believing God for the best. And you do th...
